“ Very rarely do I leave a place without being able to find the words to explain it but I'll put it simply; Balaton is excellent. The food is phenomenal with both flavor and portions and the staff was friendly and smiling. There wasn't a single point of criticism I could find or make; it's just good food, good staff, and good vibes. Trust me, erase all doubts and give them a try. I know the prices can be a little intimidating, but you absolutely need to go; it's worth it. ”
“ This is the best place to go for elevated comfort food. (Not in a persnickety way, just a “wow, this tastes absolutely amazing” way.) Get anything with a sauce - we had chicken paprikash and stuffed cabbages - and then spoon the sauce over those addictive mashed potatoes. The desserts are also incredible, and the service makes you feel like family. Call for a reservation because it gets crowded but they can usually get you in. ”

“ First time here, although I might have been at the original location YEARS ago. Need a reservation as there are only about 15 tables. Luckily Friday lunch was not busy. Our server Nicole was polite, pleasant, knowledgeable, and service was fast. Hot bread, and soft butter. I had cucumber salad, which I haven't had in years. Both my parents emigrated from Hungary, both are gone now. The food definitely brought back memories, sad and happy. Our meals came out piping hot. I had chicken schnitzel with spaetzle, my husband had chicken paprikash. My meal was huge, although we both had leftovers for the next day. Dobos torte for dessert was very good. A little pricey, but food is made to order, and as I said, big portions. We will definitely go again. ”

She was very informative, attentive, and sweet. The food is all homemade and “fabulous”! The portions were gigantic and enough for at least another take home meal. My only regret is that we hadn’t found this place sooner! My wife and I will definitely be back again. I would highly recommend the Balaton if you want to enjoy a culinary delight! ”
“ Food was authentic and very tasty. Portion was filling. I got the Chicken paprikash which was delicious and would highly recommend and my husband got the cordon bleu which was also very good. Desserts were tasty, but honestly I was full and had to take most of my dessert home. I would highly recommend Balaton but the restaurant is small so reservations are a must to avoid a long wait. ”

“ Balaton is the best Hungarian restaurant, period. It is still Grandma's authentic Hungarian recipes just like when they started the restaurant on Buckeye many, many years ago. (I used to go when I was a kid. I'm 56 now.) Every meal is cooked to perfection by her granddaughter (still the same family-owned), who makes everything from scratch and to order (so plan on spending some time for a wonderful, relaxing meal). Oh, and be sure to leave room for dessert. She trained at the renowned Cafe Gerbaud in Budapest. You will not be sorry! ”
